Nya Mellanöstern

Today we are fortunate to hear from prolific journalist, speaker, author and analyst, Seth Franztman. Seth is Op-ed Editor and Middle East affairs analyst at The Jerusalem Post and the executive director of the Middle East Center for Reporting and Analysis. Don’t miss this episode as Dalton and Seth discuss Turkey’s proxy wars.

When the Ottoman Empire (the original Caliphate and Islamic State) collapsed after WWI, the region was carved up by foreign hands. The “new Middle East” taking shape in these last years following the Arab Spring have been, in many ways, the consequences of the Ottoman’s aftermath—and one of the main power players emerging is none other than Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey. As we lay the foundation for this series’ episodes to follow, it is critical that we have a working understanding of Erdogan’s rising power and influence in the region. This is where Seth comes in. Our own teams have relied upon his brilliant analyses for several years, and we’re privileged to host him with us today.
