African-American victims of shootings in the Capitol Hill Occupied Precinct were killed and injured in a zone which was “ostensibly created to be a refuge for black lives” according to Journalist and Editor Andy Ngo.
The zone encompasses six blocks of downtown Seattle in which Black Lives Matter protesters have taken control including seizing a police precinct. Within the last 10 days there have been four shootings, killing two people, and over the weekend a 16-year-old African-American boy was killed while another was critically injured. Mr Ngo said although the circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear because the leaders within the zone are refusing to cooperate with the police, it is believed the armed protesters posing as security are responsible. The Mayor of Seattle claimed towards the beginning of the occupation, that it could be the “summer of love”. Mr Ngo told Sky News host Andrew Bolt the Mayor can “no longer claim it’s a summer of love and a peaceful expression of democracy”.
